HELLO...

I’ve been studying and practicing yoga for over 18 years. I teach Iyengar Yoga in a number of studios in Lewes, East Sussex, UK. I also teach online classes for students who aren’t local and are situated elsewhere in the country.

I stumbled upon the path of yoga, after a long suffering of anxiety whilst I was studying for my design degree at University in 2003. My very first yoga class, was like coming across the ‘off button to a bubbling kettle’ – that was the symptoms of anxiety, I’d been experiencing until that point.

Yoga has many benefits. Physically. Mentally. Spiritually. Many people are drawn to yoga for its vast array of physical benefits. Whilst I stumbled across it from a different path, it’s now engrained in my life and transformed it across the spectrum.

I practised various styles of Yoga for a number of years. Ashtanga Yoga, Sivananda Yoga, Hatha and Vinyasa Yoga. In 2008, I came across Iyengar Yoga. I started dedicating my focus to the Iyengar method due to the substance of learning it gave. Iyengar yoga allowed me to experience yoga to a completely different level.

Iyengar Yoga also allowed me to work with injuries safely. At that time I was living with a double hamstring injury. My Iyengar Yoga teacher worked with me to slowly build the muscles back to their original state. They also showed me how to prevent the injuries ever happening again.

In 2010 I travelled to Uttarakhand, Northern India to the foothills of the Himalayas to study with senior Iyengar yoga teacher Br. Rudra Dev. I returned to continue studying with him in 2012. I travelled to Maharashtra, Southern India in both 2016 and 2018 to study directly with the Iyengar family at RIMYI (the Iyengar Yoga Institute) in Pune. It was my visit in 2016 where I observed the Iyengar family conduct medical classes with students of serious health conditions, that I witnessed the therapeutic effects of yoga first hand. Witnessing relief whilst reflecting on my past own struggles, I decided to train to teach to share everything inside I’d accumulated over the years to benefit others.

I became qualified to teach in 2018 after 2 years of training in London with one of the UK’s most highly certified senior teachers, Alaric Newcombe. I am a certified Iyengar Yoga teacher Level One, currently working towards Level Two. I continuously train and study under the guidance of Alaric Newcombe, Sheila Haswell and Sallie Sullivan in the UK. I also attend weekly classes with Prashant Iyengar and the Iyengar family online in India.

In my classes I share all my knowledge with my students. I guide and give them the wonderful gift of yoga, so they can receive what it gave me.
